A touch of Compassion: Asana Adjustments and Thai Massage
WITH DAVID LUREY AND MIRJAM WAGNER
- An afternoon to explore adjustments in asana practice and Thai massage to deepen sensation, stretch and create room for breath. This workshop is great for teachers and students of all levels as the ability to support others in our practice is also very insightful to how we move in our own bodies. So even for ‘non teachers,’ learning adjustments and postural intentions are an excellent way to deepen your own practice. After some of the “greatest hits” of adjustments in standing, seated and other poses we will share the healing art of Thai Massage in a guided massage exchange.

Ahimsa; Peaceful Action in a Dynamic Life:
- This special evening asana workshop will bring students through a variety of yogic practices (breathing, chanting, postures and relaxation) while cultivating a place of connection to our peaceful roots. The all levels vinyasa sequence will act as a mirror to the events of everyday life when we are asked to bring forth peace in many ways. Taking the time in asana practice to build peace sets the seeds of intention for peaceful action off the mat.

Twists; An inner purification:
-This alignment based all levels class will guide the students through various ways of exploring spinal movements and twisting as a way to cleanse physical and emotional stress. Twists are known to help with clearing old patterns and stuck energy which will free up space for fresh life force and intentions of peace. The class will have some vinyasa elements (slightly more dynamic movement) and some times for holding and exploring poses to experience the various ways in which we are held back in our movements or able to soften and move a little deeper with breath.

12.11.11 (Saturday)
19:30 – 21:00

Kirtan; Ecstatic Chanting
- Part of the centuries old practice of Bhakti Yoga, the yoga of devotion. In Kirtan, practitioners chant mantras as a means of invoking the qualities of various deities to empower their lives. There is no experience necessary, and best of all, it is an open and safe environment to sing and be free in a light and fun way. The opening comes from your devotion and intention behind the mantras we sing. David will lead the chanting in call and response style and playing guitar.
