July 11 – 21, 2008
Cheneil, Italy

Join us for an exploration of body, mind, and spirit in the dramatic setting of a small mountain village in the Italian Alps, sitting in a glacially carved out bowl 2001 m high and above the tree line. Cheneil is located on the Italian side of the Matterhorn (Cervino in Italian).

We will develop new relationships with your body through David’s morning Asana classes crafted to awaken you for a day. Each morning session will be unique and inspired by what the day’s activities are. Some days will be for hiking to tall peaks and others just across the meadow.

After morning practice, we will share breakfast together and then decide on which way to venture, with several options offered each day with the help of local friends and guides. We reconvene in the early evening for some gentle yoga and family style dinners with music, events, and fun.

Every day, will also partake in the mind expanding Story of the Cosmos as Hasita guides us chapter by chapter through the creation of Earth and life on it with Yoga Gaia. This story of creation, as told through your body, will have profound results as we deepen out connection to nature next to pristine lakes, high rocky peaks, and glacial valleys.

This retreat is open to all levels and styles of yoga practioners. Families are welcomed and encouraged to participate and we request that children be 7 or older.

Yoga in high altitudes is always a bit challenging on the respiratory system, but also very cleansing. I don’t have a scientific answer as to ‘how thin the air is’ but we will be very conscious of dehydration and altitude sicknes. Lots of water and monitoring breathing….
    Hope you can make it!

Does the price $1399 double occupancy? Is there a single supplement or some-type of room sharing arrangement? Best Regards,
    Sarah

    Hello Sarah,
The price is per person and there are number of different rooming options, but everyone will share a room….no singles.
We have some family rooms with 4 beds, there are 2 rooms with 3 beds and about 5 rooms with 2 beds.
If you have a particular person in mind who is also coming to share a room with, we can make that happen, otherwise you will share with another participant that we (Hasita and I) will chose based on a very scientific and detailed algorythm of selecting (well….OK, just our intuition). I have been very successful in past retreats of pairing ’strangers’ together and everyone who comes on retreat will be ‘good people!’.
Hope this helps and let me know if you have more ??’s

    peace from Sao Paulo, Brasil,
    David

    Hi David,

Thanks for the info, just wondering what time would I need to be at Malpensa airport for to take your ground-transport to Cheneil? And conversly what time would you expect us to be at Malpensa for the return leg. thanks Sarah

    Hello Sarah,

Hasita tells me that most of the international flights arrive mid-day to early afternoon. Since it is only about 2 hours to Cheneil from Malpensa, I suspect we will arrange to have the bus depart the airport around 16:00 - 16:30. If there are more students arriving later, we will hold the bus but we hope to leave Milan by 17:00 on the 21st.

We will arrange a morning bus from Cheneil on the 11th and should be able to have everyone at the airport by 10:00 AM. If necessary, we will make the bus earlier and those with later flights will have some time in Milan.

    Ciao,
    David
